Support
From the time of the Buddha, Buddhist monastics and monasteries have been completely sustained through the generous offerings of supporters. This creates a symbiotic relationship between the monastery and the surrounding community. In the Buddhist tradition, monastics are considered to be "fields of blessings" because they give the opportunity for donors to practice kindness and generosity by supporting those who devote their lives to spiritual practice. In turn, monastics provide inspiration and teachings for the greater community.
